I have had the opportunity to work with students in Kindergarten for the past six years. Throughout those six years I have taught in both the Half-Day and Full-Day Kindergarten programs. While each offered their own individual focus, the Full-Day Kindergarten program allows for educators to spend an entire day with our students, guiding them through personal/social struggles and igniting and promoting their love for education. A holistic approach within the Full-Day Kindergarten program offers a nurturing, welcoming and peaceful learning environment with the whole child in mind as all times. I am looking forward to sharing with you some practical lessons you can use within your own Kindergarten classroom to begin promoting health and well-being in the classroom environment.

I will enter my twelfth teaching year in September and will be teaching Grade 8 PE, Grade 11 Cooperative Education and Grade 11/12 Family Math at a one-to-one laptop school in the Conference of Independent Schools (CIS) in Toronto.
I am interested in how to seamlessly integrate learning into students lives by capitalizing on the technology that has become so much a part of them. How can we think differently about knowledge and pedagogy framed in an ontologically changing culture of mobility and ubiquitousness? Learning communities create opportunity to internalize experiences, and meta-cognition is an important element in fulfilling an embodied experience.

For the past six years, I been a home form grade eight teacher in an all boys independent school. I have also taught the English and social studies program to all grade eight students. The school where I teach emphasizes the whole student. Boys have the chance to explore themselves intellectually, athletically, spiritually and emotionally. My role as a home form teacher provides me with the opportunity to get to know each student as an individual, and the school's philosophy allows me to build a curriculum that tries to reach students on each of these levels. Recent mindfulness training, along with an interest in Harkness teaching, have helped me become a more holistic educator over the past few years. I look forward to sharing some of these approaches with you.

While I'm originally from the small town of Trenton, Ontario, I am a bit of a vagabond.I currently work on the other side of the planet, teaching at the International School of Beijing. I have been working for the past six years at international schools in China where I have been lucky enough to teach expatriate students. While exciting, living far away from home creates a certain spiritual and emotional longing for myself and many of my students. I have developed a great interest in holistic education in order to meet these needs where possible. I look forward to sharing some ideas and learning more through this project.
